Seema Tomar Shoots Gold in Women’s Trap at the 4th Asian Shotgun Championship

New Delhi, November 3, 2014: India’s woman trap shooter, Seema Tomar, today did the country proud when she won the Gold medal in the Women’s Trap event at the 4th Asian Shotgun Championship, being held at Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Seema, who hails from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, shot a credible 97 (72+12+13) in the final stage of competition to beat Mariya Dmitriyenko of Kazakhstan to second place. This is a career best result in international competition for Seema. Her previous best was a silver winning effort, four years back at the World Cup in Dorset, United Kingdom. Seema’s effort also helped the Indian Women’s team bag the Team Gold in Trap, as she combined with Shagun Chaudhary and Shreyasi Singh to shoot a total of 207, edging out Japan (203) who won silver and South Korea (199) who won bronze. Individually, Shreyasi shot 68, while Shagun ended up with a 67.
