Sushil Ghaley Wins Rifle Prone Gold at XVII Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting Championship


New Delhi, July 29, 2017: Senior Army marksman Sushil Ghaley landed the Men’s 50M Rifle Prone Gold on day three of the XVII Kumar Surendra Singh (KSS) Memorial Shooting Championship, overcoming the challenge frompromising youngster Swapnil Kusale of the Railways in the Final. At New Delhi’s Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Sushil shot 251.8 in the final to Swapnil’s 247.4. Another veteran and Olympian Sanjeev Rajput won Bronze shooting a score of 226.3 in the Final.

Earlier on day two, the young and promising Haryana pistol shooter Anish had stolen the limelight bagging a double with both the Men’s and Junior men’s 25M Rapid Fire Pistol crowns. In the Men’s Final, Anish had got the better of former Olympic Silver medalist and state-mate Vijay Kumar, 31-30. Olympian Gurpreet Singh of the army had come in third managing a 23 in the final.

The 10M Air Rifle title had also been won late in the night on day two by Pratik Borse representing the Navy.

The XVII KSS Memorial Shooting Championship 2017 concludes on August 1, 2017, following which the rifle and pistol shooters move on to the third and fourth selection trials of the year, which will help select the Indian team for the Commonwealth Shooting Championship scheduled for October-November this year in Australia.
