Indian Men’s Skeet Shooters Bow Out on Concluding Day of San Marino Shotgun World Cup Competitions


New Delhi, June 10, 2016: India’s Men’s Skeet shooters, without the Rio bound Mairaj Ahmad Khan, were stopped in their tracks in their bid to make the final rounds of the concluding event of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup for Shotgun. The five competition day, third World Cup stage was held at the European republic of San Marino. Among the three Indians in the fray, Sheeraz Shaikh and Man Singh shot identical scores of 117 in the qualification round to finish in 36th and 37th positions. Smit Singh was way behind in 76th place, having shot a score of 108.

On Thursday, India’s Women’s Skeet team comprising of Maheshwari Chauhan and RashmeeRathore ended in 36th and 49th place respectively. Maheshwari shot 64 out of 75 while Rashmee managed 61.

The ISSF World Cup moves next to Baku, Azerbaijan, for its fourth and concluding stage and would be a combined stage for Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun. This would be the last global competition for the sport before the Rio 2016 Olympics in August.
