ISSF Junior World Cup: Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun – Day 1


Indian Juniors begin proceedings with 3 Gold Medals and a Bronze

Suhl, 1st May 2016:The Indian contingent participating in the ISSF Junior World Cup finished their campaign on the first day on an impressive note winning two team Gold Medals in the 25M Standard Pistol Men’s and the 50M Rifle Prone Women competitions respectively. India also earned an individual Gold Medal in the 25M Standard Pistol Men’s competition through Rituraj Singh along with a Bronze Medal in the 50M Rifle Prone Women competition through Gaayathri Nithyanadam.

The Indian team of Rituraj Singh (569), Shivam Shukla (550) and Arjun Das (542) walked away with the Gold Medal in the team event of the 25M Standard Pistol Men competition shooting a total of 1661. France won the Silver Medal with 1659 points while Australia had to settle with the Bronze Medal with 1648 points in the team event of 25 M Standard Pistol Men competition. Rituraj Singh also showcased great poise as he wrapped up the individual competition of the 25M Standard Pistol Men category too with a Gold Medal shooting 569 points.

The Indian eves also showcased spectacular mental strength as they walked away with the Gold Medal in the team event of the 50M Rifle Prone Women competition. The team of Gaayathri Nithyanadam (618.4), Sonika (616.9) and Ayushi Podder (611.3) shot a total of 1846.6 to emerge as the winners, and were followed by France (1841.7) and Poland (1836.3) respectively. Gaayathri Nithyanadam also walked away with the Bronze Medal in the individual event of the 50M Rifle Prone Women competition shooting a total of 618.4 points.
